As part of the Brand & Identity module in the BA Visual Communication program, we were tasked with selecting a real cultural institution in Switzerland and designing a mascot that would embody its positioning, visual identity, and atmosphere. I chose the Basel-based nightclub Nordstern, an iconic venue located on a ship on the Rhine and renowned for its focus on electronic music.
The result was Noctur – a water-born creature that drifts through the Rhine around the club. Carrying a glowing lamp, it lures visitors into the darkness below deck, guiding them toward the pulsating sound of the night. Through Noctur, Nordstern's identity becomes both playful and immersive, transforming its brand into a living presence that resonates with the club's unique setting and spirit.
